The rugby union lads had their tounrament next – the legendary Oundle Sevens.

Ardvreck has traditionally done very well and it seemed as if they’d be highly competitive again this year – except it was called off. The English weather was as its finest (sarcasm). However, another school close by said that they’d hold a scratch tournament. So we went along and played against six other schools (the other 13 didn’t come).

It was freezing! I was wearing about 5 layers and two pairs of gloves but the wind still managed to go straight through me. I don’t think i’ve ever been so cold in my life! and The boys were only wearing short shorts and a rugby jumper, so they must’ve been even colder!

Ardvreck ended up making it to the final and drew nil all with some other school. But neither team wanted to play extra time because they didn’t want hypothermia, so both teams shared the glory and nursed frozen fingers back to health.
